Ingredients for 8 servings:
1. 2 lbs fresh asparagus, sliced diagonally into 1-inch pieces
2. 1 lb very thin spaghetti
3. 8 slices bacon, cut into 1-inch pieces
4. 1/2 cup sliced green onion
5. 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
6. 1/4 cup butter, softened
7. 1/2 cup half-and-half cream
8. 1/2-3/4 cup grated parmesan cheese
Directions:
1. Cook asparagus in boiling salted water 3 minutes.
2. Drain and set aside.
3. Cook spaghetti according to package directions.
4. Drain and return to kettle to keep warm. Meanwhile, in a skillet, cook bacon until crisp.
5. Remove to a paper towel.
6. In bacon drippings, saute onion until soft.
7. Add asparagus and pepper; heat through.
8. Quickly toss together spaghetti, asparagus mixture, bacon, butter, cream and cheese; taste and adjust seasoning with salt and pepper.
9. Serve immediately.
