Ingredients for 8 servings:
1. 1 quart water
2. 2 cups fat-free half-and-half
3. 1 1/2 cups 1% low-fat milk
4. 1 large sweeter onion, minced
5. 4 medium stalk celery, small pieces
6. 4 red potatoes, cubed skin on
7. 1 lb cod, cubed
8. 1/2 lb imitation crabmeat, cubed
9. 1 bay leaf
10. 6 garlic cloves, minced
11. 1/4 teaspoon ground turmeric
12. 3 1/2 tablespoons butter
13. 2 teaspoons fresh ground pepper, to taste
14. 1 -2 teaspoon kosher salt, to taste
15. 1 teaspoon fennel seed, crushed
16. 1 1/2 teaspoons spanish saffron
17. 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper, to taste
Directions:
1. Bring quart of water to simmer in medium soup pot.
2. Add onion, celery, butter, and salt to water.
3. Add crushed tumeric, fresh ground pepper, and bay leaf.
4. Bring back to low boil then add cream and milk.
5. Bring back to low boil then add fish & crab.
6. Add cayenne to taste if desired.
7. Bring back to low boil for about 10 minutes.
8. Serve.
