Chocolate Bread Pudding

 

Ingredients for 8 servings:
1. 2 ounces butter
2. 4 cups French bread, 1 inch cube
3. 3 ounces unsweetened chocolate, melted
4. 1 cup milk
5. 1 cup heavy cream
6. 3 egg yolks
7. 3/4 cup sugar

Directions:
1. Melt butter in a bowl, toss with bread. In a sauce pan, bring milk and cream to a boil and remove from heat. Add cream mixture to chocolate, whisking until combined well. Add egg yolk and sugar. Pour custard over bread. Let pudding stand, covered, one hour.
2. Preheat oven to 350 degrees and butter a pan.
3. Transfer pudding to pan and bake in middle of oven until just set, but still trembles slightly, about 50 minutes. Serve pudding warm or at room temperature.
