Ingredients for 12 servings:
1. 1/2 lb ground beef
2. 1/2 lb bulk pork sausage
3. 1 cup chopped onion
4. 2 -3 cloves garlic, minced
5. 2 (16 ounce) cans pork and beans, undrained
6. 2 (15 ounce) cans kidney beans or 2 (15 ounce) cans pinto beans, rinsed and drained
7. 2 (15 ounce) cans butter beans or 2 (15 ounce) cans black beans, rinsed and drained
8. 1 cup bottled barbecue sauce
9. 4 slices bacon, cooked crisp,drained and crumbled
10. 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
11. 1/4 cup water
12. 2 tablespoons lime juice
13. 2 tablespoons prepared mustard
14. 1 -2 teaspoon chili powder
15. 1/4-1/2 teaspoon ground pepper
Directions:
1. Add the ground beef, sausage, onion, and garlic to a big skillet; cook until meat is browned; drain well.
2. Put meat mixture into a 5-6 quart slow-cooker.
3. Add undrained pork and beans, drained kidney beans and butter beans, barbecue sauce, bacon, sugar, water, lime juice, mustard, chili powder, and pepper; stir to combine.
4. Cover; cook on LOW for 5-6 hours; season with salt to taste.
