Ingredients for 6 servings:
1. 1 medium onion, chopped
2. 3 tablespoons bacon drippings (best) or 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
3. 1 (16 ounce) can sauerkraut, drained
4. 1 (16 ounce) can diced tomatoes
5. 1/2 teaspoon caraway seed
6. 1/2 teaspoon sugar
Directions:
1. Fry the chopped onion in hot bacon fat until soft. Add sauerkraut, tomatoes, caraway seed and sugar; mix thoroughly.
2. Turn into a 1 1/2-quart casserole and bake uncovered in a 350°F oven for 30-40 minutes.
